1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using VettedBlue ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Platform on behalf of a law enforcement agency or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.

2. Description of Service

VettedBlue is a background investigation management platform designed for law enforcement agencies. The Platform provides tools for managing hiring pipelines, conducting background investigations, officer relicensing, document management, and compliance tracking.

3. User Accounts

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You must immediately notify your agency administrator of any unauthorized use of your account.
  • You may not share login credentials with other individuals.
  • Agency administrators are responsible for managing user access and permissions within their organization.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Platform only for its intended purpose of law enforcement background investigations and related activities. You agree not to:

  • Access data belonging to other agencies or departments
  • Attempt to circumvent security controls or access restrictions
  • Use the Platform for any purpose unrelated to official law enforcement duties
  • Share, export, or distribute investigation data outside of authorized channels
  • Introduce malicious software or attempt to compromise the Platform

5. Data Ownership

All data entered into VettedBlue by an agency remains the property of that agency. VettedBlue does not claim ownership of any investigation data, applicant information, or documents uploaded to the Platform. Agencies may request export or deletion of their data at any time.

6. Security & Compliance

VettedBlue implements security measures consistent with CJIS Security Policy requirements. However, agencies are responsible for ensuring their use of the Platform complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including but not limited to CJIS requirements, state data privacy laws, and internal departmental policies.

7. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Platform may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned maintenance.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VettedBlue shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claims arising from use of the Platform shall not exceed the fees paid by your agency in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate service with 30 days written notice. Upon termination, agencies may request a complete export of their data. Data will be retained for 90 days following termination to allow for data export, after which it will be permanently deleted unless otherwise required by law.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated to agency administrators at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
